Friday's Best Bets: Brilliant Besh is the best

Tippin’ Jimmy runs us through Friday’s racing, with four leading fancies from the racecard.

1:50 Newbury – Beshaayir (10/11)
William Haggas has booked Ryan Moore to ride his well-regarded filly Beshaayir at Newbury today. Her pedigree is very strong, having been out of listed winning Bahia Breeze. She returns to the track after losing narrowly to an experienced rival last time out, and should go one better today.

4:35 Newbury– Lamya (5/2)
Lamya is a horse that Richard Hannon thinks the world of, and could even make it into a stakes horse this season. She ran out a very encouraging winner at Windsor last time out, defeating a quality field in good fashion. This race looks rather competitive too, but she should be able to register a second success.

5:15 Newton Abbot – Darling Maltaix (5/2)
Paul Nicholls’ French import Darling Maltamix oozed class when winning on his only start almost two years ago, and despite the break could go well again. The long absence is a huge concern, as is the form of rival Point Of Principle, but he won so well in that win and has so much potential. He is a horse to watch this season.

7:15 Newcastle – Sosian (7/2)
A horse that deserves to win at Newcastle tonight is Sosian for Richard Fahey. She’s finished second on two occasions, including a narrow defeat to Tulip Fever at York back in June. That form looks exceptionally strong here, and despite only finishing fourth at Pontefract last time out I expect her to run well.
