Saturday's Best Bets: Forever set for a Glorious Sandown outing

Tippin’ Jimmy runs us through the big Saturday races after securing two winners yesterday.

1:40 Chester – Mutakatif (2/1)
I think this is my strongest fancy on the card, and in the opening race at Chester my money is firmly on Mutakatif. Charlie Hills’ two-year-old is a well-bred maiden and has placed in all three starts at this level. He defeated Barraquero, an eventual Group Two winner, in a maiden event at Newbury and wasn’t too far off Expert Eye too. That form stacks up very strongly, he should win this. Ateem is a big danger.

2:25 Sandown – Romanised (13/2) , Arbalet (16/1) ew
Romanised brings proper Group One form into this race, and I think he is a classy colt that is a little underrated. He ran okay at Ascot, and pretty well at the Curragh. He didn’t run his true race, and there is plenty more to come from him.

If you follow this blog, you will know I like Arbalet an awful lot and I think he can compete well at this level. After two promising efforts in maiden company, he blasted away to win at Redcar last time out and looked a very good horse in the making. This is much tougher, but I think he is a quality horse in the making.

3:00 Sandown – Intimation (7/2)
Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore team up with this advancing filly Intimation, who was desperately unlucky not to win at the Curragh last Sunday. She got little room, but as the gap appeared flew home and was just a little too late to win. She has the quality to make amends here, the only worry is how fit she is following that run.

3:55 Chester – Mayyasah (6/4)
I was very impressed with this fillies debut at Newbury, where she beat a top horse in Mushahadaat in very convincing style. She looked like a very good horse in the making on what was only her first run, she was stepped up in both class and distance and didn’t run her race when sixth. She is clearly much better than that last run suggests, she should be winning now dropped to conditions level.

4:30 Chester – Boundsy (3/1)
Horses that do well at Chester, do very well at Chester and Boundsy is a prime example of that. He goes to this race having never featured outside the top two and should go well yet again for Richard Fahey. He has been in excellent form this season, and despite a 4lb rise for his Newcastle second he should go well.

4:45 Sandown – Najashee (3/1)
One horse I am firmly looking forward to seeing at Sandown is Najashee. Owen Burrows’ three-year-old looks like a quality horse in the making, and is much better than his handicap mark suggests. On his penultimate start he started poorly, but finished best to be narrowly defeated when third. He made amends at Haydock last time out, winning relatively comfortably. If he lives up to promise he should strike here.

5:20 Sandown – Glorious Forever (7/1)
I think quite a fair bit of this horse, and he just hasn’t lived up to last season’s promise. He has been running well in handicaps, and off this mark but I feel there is a bit more too him than what what we have seen on the racecourse. His last Haydock run showed promise, and he can go one better from that second place effort.
