Tippin’ Jimmy has three strong fancies from Friday’s
racecard.
5:25 Newton Abbot - Brianstorm (13/8)
Warren Greatrex told me this was one of his best bumper
prospects for the season, and if so he should be making a winning start to life
at Newton Abbot. The five-year-old makes his British debut this afternoon,
having won on his only start in an Irish point-to-point. He won easily that day
over a longer trip, but should have enough pace at the minimum trip here today.
With expectations high, he should be up to winning here.
6:15 Kempton -
Thammin (9/1)
I think Thammin is a horse who is capable of winning a few handicaps
before the end of the season for Owen Burrows. He won two races last season,
but only defeated one rival on his seasonal bow at Lingfield in May. He has had
a bit of a break, and he should go well fresh. He’s on a decent mark here, and
the return to five furlongs is a big bonus too. Orvar is a danger.
8:00 Dundalk – Goldrush (7/2)
Goldrush cost his owners a huge sum, but has an impressive
pedigree and could be one of Ireland’s most exciting prospects for next season.
Out of multiple Group One winner Alexander Goldrun and Frankel, he won on debut
at Navan in really taking style and will certainly improve from that run.
Clearly this race is much tougher as he steps into listed company, but he
looked like he could be a Group winner on debut and if so should be winning
this.
