Tippin' Jimmy casts his eye over Monday's racing.
1:00 Carlisle - Vino's Choice (11/2)
He was a tad free on his hurdling and stable debut for Lucinda Russell but could run much better here this afternoon. He was exceptional as a bumper winner with former trainer Gavin Cromwell, and the form of his sole win has worked out quite well.
1:20 Kempton - Admiral's Secret (8/1)
Victor Dartnall's six-year-old raced in mid-week but shaped with a lot of promise before pulling-up. He was badly hampered that day and didn't get the chance to prove what he is capable of. He could make amends today.
1:30 Carlisle - Brio Conti (4/6)
Quite a few of today's fancies are ones that trainers rate very highly of, and Paul Nicholls thinks this one could make into a fine novice chaser this season. This ask doesn't look too tough on his chasing bow this afternoon and he sets a fine standard on his hurdles form. It's a long trip up to Cumbria, but he should make it more than worthwhile.
1:50 Kempton - Secret Investor (9/4), Duke Debarry (8/1)
Paul Nicholls has a few chances across both cards today and Secret Investor could be one to keep an eye on. He won well as a point-to-pointer before finishing a lengthy second at Ascot on his last outing in November. There should be a bit more to come from him, and he could progress into a decent prospect. My worry is he may need the run.
Nicky Henderson's Duke Debarry is another I am watching. He ran some good races in three efforts in bumpers but has always looked the sort to progress over hurdles.

One of my dark horses to follow this year is Le Breuil for Ben Pauling. He shaped into a lovely prospect when winning at Newbury and Sedgefield before not getting a fair run at Aintree. He is most certainly a smart prospect, and deserves to take his chance in better races than this. If he lives up to expectations he will win. Make sure to read my article in the link above for some exclusive words from the trainer.
3:10 Carlisle - Argentix (9/2)
Lucinda Russell's French import Argentix shaped with plenty of promise on her British debut. He finished a six length second up at Perth, behind a horse who had a win behind him. He probably needed the experience that day and I hope he will come from it to go and strike off this nice mark of 115.
4:00 Kempton - King's Tempest (5/1)
I really think this horse is much better than his current mark suggests and could go well for Warren Greatrex. He hasn't been seen since finishing third at Stratford in May, but after reports indicate he has summered well he could go well. He is best fresh, and has been dropped 7lb by the handicapper. He has to have a big chance on his return.
