Thursday's Best Bets: Status Quo has 'rock' solid claims

Tippin' Jimmy hopes for another profitable day. As always he will tip from every race from Cheltenham's Open Meeting.

2:25 Ludlow - Black Sam Bella (11/4)
Dan and Harry Skelton are an exceptional duo in racing and they team up with Black Sam Bella, who I think could go right to the top. She was a good point winner before finishing a runner-up on his bumper and hurdling debut. She wasn't beaten too far at Bangor and can go better today, especially considering she has a bit of a longer trip.

2:35 Taunton - Status Quo (8/1)
Harry Fry will hope that this nice hurdling prospect can land his first jumping success this afternoon. He made a decent return at Ludlow, where travelling very well before a bad jump cost him the race. Kieron Edgar pulled him up pretty sharply and he has been dropped 4lb. He is capable of winning off this mark.

2:45 Southwell - Take The High Road (7/4)
This promising three-year-old has moved to Keith Dalgleish and could make a winning stable debut today. He ran really well on two starts with John Oxx finishing third in two outings, and deserves his chance in a maiden.

3:10 Taunton - Peggies Venture (5/1)
After a really promising second on her racecourse return I picture Peggies Venture going one better for Alan King. She was defeated in a photo finish at Worcester, to a rival who goes well fresh. She typically improves for the run and can run a big race off this current mark. The step up in trip should benefit her.

3:55 Clonmel - Monstrosity (7/2)
Sometimes in racing having a colour or a name beside a horse always makes the price much shorter than it deserves to be. I am hoping this is the case for Warlike Intent. I like Monstrosity here who has fared well in bumper company finishing third and then second for Noel Meade. I hope he can go one better today.

4:10 Taunton - Ringa Ding Dong (11/4), Court Out (7/1)
Paul Nicholls rates this horse quite highly ahead of his debut run in Somerset. He is from a very good family who have shaped very well in bumpers. He looks like a good type at this level, and can make a winning start.

Jamie Snowden likes Court Out a lot and he could be worth a second investment for this race.
