After another top day of results, our man Tippin' Jimmy seeks a third NAP success.
1:10 Saint Cloud - Glorious Journey (9/5) NAP
I believe this horse may be an exceptional one for Charlie Appleby, and he faces a good field in France this afternoon. He beat some fair opposition on debut, including Group-placed Take Me With You, and should be up to winning here.
3:15 Ascot - Cape Byron (15/8)
Cape Byron was a horse I was very impressed with last season, and I thought he would make into a useful three-year-old this season. He built on a promising debut second to beat some good opposition at Newmarket but hasn't seen the racecourse since that win back in October. The break is clearly a worry for him, but he has got plenty of scope and may make into a very good horse this season.
5:00 Ascot - Afaak (7/2)
I have so much time for this horse, and he has won me a fair bit this season. He is beautifully bred and is gradually becoming a nice colt in the making for Charlie Hills. He ran pretty well when fourth in a competitive Newmarket handicap and that form sets a high standard here.
5:30 Ascot - African Friend (10/3)
A very strong progressing horse for Henry Candy is African Friend, who makes only his fourth career start. He won well after a lengthy break, and finished a solid third last time out at Thirsk. The handicapper hasn't moved him for that run, and he will win off this mark before too long. The extra furlong should help, I expect a big run.
