Tippin’ Jimmy picks out his best four bets from Monday’s
racecard.
3:00 Worcester – Wait For Me (8/11)
Wait For Me brings a very strong reputation to Worcester and
hopes to bring a good level of hurdling form to his chasing debut. He was a
good winner at Sandown back in April, before enjoying an encouraging seasonal
bow at Newton Abbot when second. A former Champion Bumper third he is a
seriously quality horse and if he takes to fences could be tough to beat.
3:45 Brighton – Marie Of Lyon (3/1)
I know Richard Fahey thinks quite highly of this filly, who
hasn’t quite shown her best form this season. Her only victory came when an
encouraging debut winner, before finishing third in listed company and fifth in
Group Three company. Her form this year has been disappointing but she is on an
attractive mark. The drop in trip may benefit, and the quick ground may help
too.
5:05 Worcester – Counter Shy (15/2)
Counter Shy could be a very nice horse in the making for
Jonjo O’Neill and JP McManus. He wasn’t beaten by a lot when third on debut at
Market Rasen. The form of that race has worked out strongly, and he makes his
return after a break. He makes his first start over hurdles this afternoon, and
it’s hard to judge how he will manage over obstacles. I do think he is one to
follow, and if he lives up to his potential could a nice horse.
5:30 Galway – Pocket Dial (5/2)
Jessica Harrington’s Pocket Dial should make it third time
lucky in the final race at Galway today. The four-year-old fell on her debut,
before finishing a short third at Ballinrobe last time out. She should improve
from that run, and this field doesn’t look as competitive today. She is from a
very good family, and break her maiden this afternoon.
