Thursday's Best Bets: Lifeboat to sail to victory

After a cracking 10-1 winner yesterday, an in-form Tippin' Jimmy runs us through Thursday's racing.

1:30 Epsom - Lifeboat (13/8)
I am pretty keen on this horses chances and I expect him to make a winning start to the day at Epsom. He improved from a solid debut effort to finish second at Salisbury last time out, beaten by a decent horse by under a length. He is a maiden winner in waiting, the reports are good at home, and he should be up to striking here.

3:00 Doncaster - Melodic Motion (5/1)
I was very taken by this three-year-old's run at Glorious Goodwood, where she wasn't beaten by much and I thought handled herself very well at Group level. She was only defeated narrowly, and should be much more suited to today's track and ground. She still has plenty more to come, and a bright future ahead. I believe she is up to winning this.

3:35 Doncaster - Laugh A Minute (14/1)
This is a nice horse for Roger Varian who should be up to winning a race soon enough. The two-year-old is a three race maiden but ran pretty well in a competitive maiden at York last time out. The drop to six may suit him, and I believe there should be plenty more to come from him. I am expecting him to strike soon.

4:35 Doncaster - What A Home (10/11)
William Haggas and Paul Hanagan should win the final race at Doncaster with this improving filly What A Home. She's stepped up from two third place efforts to win pretty well at Chester when last seen in July. She won in good style, and that was impressive considering she had a lot of trouble in running. The handicapper has given her a nice handicap mark and there's plenty more to come.
