Wednesday's Best Bets: Newcross can hit the target at Listowel

After an excellent 7-1 and 6-4 NAP winner, Tippin' Jimmy hopes to build on his impressive record.

3:35 Listowel - Newcross (13/8)
Making his handicap debut for top Irish trainer Dermot Weld is Newcross. He looked like a decent prospect as a juvenile when second at Galway, before running a strong race on his seasonal return at Roscommon. He may have bumped into a good horse that day, and he will improve from the outing. This race doesn't look as strong, so he should be up to striking on the fourth time of asking.

4:10 Carlisle - Ann Without An E (13/8)
This is a horse I was a tad fearful of when I backed and tipped Exhort to win at Thirsk a fortnight ago. She is a nice filly, but was very under par when last in Yorkshire that day. Previously she had finished third at Goodwood, and ran well in a listed event. This is a much better race for her and the small step back in trip is a help, as is the wet conditions in Cumbria.

4:30 Uttoxeter - Borderlinedecision (10/1)
Falling down the handicap onto a very useful mark of 98 is Borderlinedecision for Jonjo O'Neill. The five-year-old hasn't gone any closer than fifth when last seen at Newton Abbot, but ran with plenty of promise that day and would've gone a lot closer if he had jumped better. The handicapper may have let him sneak in, and he should relish the conditions today.
