Tippin’ Jimmy has been in fine
form this week, and picks out his four selections from Thursday’s racecard.
2:25 Clonmel – Arvico Bleu (4/7)
One horse who could turn into a
very smart one this season is Arvico Bleu for Henry De Bromhead. He’s bumped
into some nice horses in consistent performances, with Next Destination, Cilaos
Emery and the progressive Monkshood all beating him. He makes his first start
over hurdles, and could be up to striking on his seasonal bow.
4:20 Newmarket – UAE King (5/2)
UAE King is a horse I have been
following for a short while now, and could progress into a very smart stayer
for Roger Varian. He’s won three races this season, including over this trip,
and looked a class act when winning. He was last seen finishing a good third in
a listed event at Goodwood, losing out to good horses in Call To Mind and Count
Octave. He is a horse with pattern class, and could strike today.
4:30 Perth – Ballyandy (8/11)
Champion bumper winner Ballyandy
begins his chasing campaign at Perth today, and looks to take on a competitive
rival in Fagan. He is a classy horse winning at Cheltenham, and finishing
fourth in last year’s Supreme at the Festival. As with these novices he must
transfer his ability to fences, and reports from home indicate he has been
jumping well. I can’t wait to see this top horse back in action.
4:55 Newmarket – Amlad (9/2)
I like to keep an eye on Ed
Dunlop’s horses as they seem to run well at the minute. He saddles Amlad who is
a course and distance winner, on a very appealing mark here. He won here back
in June rather comfortably, but hasn’t done too much since. He finished a good
second last time out, beaten by a good horse in Humble Hero. He wasn’t defeated
by too much, and after only a raise of 1lb he should go very well.
