Wednesday's Best Bets: Arctic can strike Gold at Perth

With two winners yesterday, Tippin’ Jimmy talks us through his selections from Wednesday’s racing.

2:00 Redcar – Elements Quest (11/1)
This nicely bred filly has found maiden level a tad too hot, and should now have a good chance to score in this nursery contest. She has been disappointing when only defeating one rival at Hamilton last time out, but she is very well bred and reports from home indicate she has improved in her two months off the track. She certainly has a win in her off a mark of 56, for an inform Karl Burke.

2:10 Goodwood – Setting Sail (8/13)
Out of French Oaks winner West Wind, Godolphin will have high hopes Setting Sail live up to the high standard set in her pedigree. The two-year-old ran well on debut, finishing just under a length off a more experienced rival in Morning Wonder who looks a top prospect in his own right. Setting Sail should improve an awful lot for the run, and has the quality to win a maiden event here.

2:30 Redcar – Dream Of Delphi (3/1)
William Haggas has an exceptional record at tracks like Redcar, and this improving Dream Of Delphi should be up to striking in Yorkshire. He won really well at Lingfield last month, before finishing a clear second on Chelmsford’s all-weather surface. Sunbreak, the horse that beat him, has won again since so the form is rather strong. He faces a 8lb rise from the handicapper, but I expect a strong performance.

3:25 Perth – Brutal (6/4)
Brutal is a horse I have been following for a while, and a horse I believe has real genuine qualities. Gordon Elliott’s juvenile hurdler won so well on his hurdles debut, and I fancied him to follow up at Killarney last time out. He flopped massively that day, and will need to improve a lot from that sixth place effort. I expect him to go very well, should he run to his true level.

4:00 Perth – Arctic Gold (5/4)
Arctic Gold could now be very well treated by the handicapper as he returns to chasing for Nigel Twiston-Davies. The six-year-old has run well at the track, and returns from a four-month break from the racecourse. If he can adapt to fences he should have a serious chance, and strike on his third chasing effort.
