Wednesday's Best Bets: Ruby can sparkle in Exquisite style

Tippin’ Jimmy talks us through his fancies from Wednesday’s racecard.

2:20 Gowran Park – Himmah (11/4)
Himmah is a very expensive horse to follow, but once again today could be the day for him. He finished third last time and certainly deserves to win a maiden before too long. He always seems to find one or two a bit too good, however trainer Kevin Prendergast has kept in maiden company and must have retained faith he can strike in this company.

4:20 Nottingham – Medicean Ballet (7/2)
Henry Candy will be looking for a second victory with his improving filly Medicean Ballet. She shaped well when finishing second at Kempton last week and switches back to turf, where she could be a tad better.  Off this mark, back in form and with these conditions she should run a big race.

5:00 Gowran Park – World War (Evs)
After three second place efforts today could be the day World War finally wins. Ger Lyons’ three-year-old was last seen losing narrowly in a good handicap, where he was beaten by a horse in flying form. He switches back to maiden company and in this field he looks the one to beat. He also acts on the ground which is a huge bonus.

6:55 Kempton – Rainbow Rising (10/3)
David Menuisier will be hoping his filly Rainbow Rising can finish the season off with a victory. The three-year-old has finished second on two occasions, including a narrow defeat at this venue and was last seen finishing third at Lingfield. She was only defeated by a length, but deserves to get her head in front.

8:25 Kempton  - Exquisite Ruby NAP (10/3)
Charlie Hills’ Exquisite Ruby is one of my strongest fancies of the week, and I am delighted that Silvestre De Sousa is on board for the ride. She finished a strong second on her penultimate start, losing out to a decent horse who travelled over from Ireland and has won since. She then ended up fourth when finishing off best off this mark, and would’ve won nicely with an extra few yards. With an added furlong, off the current mark, and confidence high she should be hard to stop.

£2 Yankee (Medicean Ballet/ World War/ Rainbow Rising/ Exquisite Ruby) returns £874!
